Chennai, India: 2009

We have contributed to the signing of a clinical contract between Sri Ramachandra University (SRU), Chennai, India and the University of Toronto (U of T), Toronto, Canada. With this contract SRU has entered into a partnership for internationally-based clinical education with U of T. This contract will allow students from the Department of Speech-Language Pathology at U of T to pursue their clinical education (for a period of 10-weeks) in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at SRU, India. This is officially the first International Clinical Speech-Language Pathology internship placement agreement between India and Canada. We are pleased and proud to say that Hear2speak played a critical role in establishing this on-going clinical education partnership between India and Canada.

This is an historic moment and a big achievement for all of us. This is officially the first International Clinical Speech-Language Pathology internship placement agreement between India and Canada. The signing of this agreement signifies the value U of T places on international clinical experiences and the commitment to reaching beyond its traditional borders. We believe this will be a wonderful opportunity for the two countries to exchange academic and cultural knowledge on an on-going basis.

We are pleased and proud to say that Hear2speak played a critical role in establishing this on-going clinical education partnership between India and Canada. To achieve this, we collaborated with: (1) Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at SRU, India, (2) Department of Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), University of Toronto and (3) International Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation (ICDR), University of Toronto. Also, we want to extend our sincere thanks to Tim Bressmann (Faculty, Dept of SLP, U of Toronto) and Transforming Faces Worldwide for supporting Roopa Nagarajan’s trip to Toronto.
